Ingredients
- (1) Stew Meat
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Egg noodles or rice, for serving
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Directions
Brown the Stew Meat:
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the stew meat and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meat from the skillet and set it aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms are browned, about 5 minutes.
- Create the Sauce:
- Sprinkle the flour over the sautéed vegetables and stir to coat evenly.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook until the sauce has thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Cook the Meat and Combine:
- Return the browned stew meat to the skillet.
- Cover and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the meat is tender and fully cooked.
- Stir in the sour cream, and heat gently for 2-3 minutes. Be sure not to boil the sauce to avoid curdling.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
